Call of Duty: Black Ops 'First Strike' DLC sold 1.4M units in a day only

Today, Activision said that 1.4 million copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops' "First Strike" map pack were sold "in the first 24 hours" of its February 1 debut on Xbox Live. At $15 a pop, that's $21 million in gross revenue in a single day -- only on Xbox Live! Plus, Activision Publishing's Eric Hirshberg announced that those sales were a "20 percent increase over Modern Warfare 2's 'Stimulus Package DLC'" launch. He also said that First Strike, which was also sold on PSN and PC in March, "continues to outsell the Stimulus by more than 20 percent." But hey, let's give our old buddy the Stimulus Pack a break -- finally, the poor thing had to suffer the full rage of the internet when it became the very first Call of Duty DLC priced at $15! First Strike had it easy.

Star Raiders launch on XBLA this Wednesday

Major Nelson has tweeted that Star Raiders will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade this week. Based on the Atari 800 title of the same name, the new version was developed by Incinerator Studios. Like the original, Star Raiders focuses on galactic navigation and dogfights. It also comes packing multiplayer modes, so space combat fans may want to keep their eyes on it.

Tribes Ascent gameplay shots ascend on Facebook

Hi-Rez Studios has uploaded the first two gameplay shots from Tribes Ascent on the game's Facebook page, and we're required by federal regulations to tell you that they are ... looking great! Blue skies! Wide open landscapes! Some gun that looks like an updated pack of the classic Spinfusor! It's hot enough to get your blood pumping if you're an old-school Tribes fan.
